About NA

Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is one of the world’s oldest and largest associations of recovering drug addicts providing peer support to other addicts who want to stop using drugs. The NA approach to recovery from drug addiction is completely non-professional, relying on peer support. We believe the NA program works as well as it does primarily because of the therapeutic value of addicts helping other addicts.

Information for the Treatment Community

The Essex-Kent Area Service Committee (EKASC) Public Relations Subcommittee places particular importance on raising the level of awareness of NA within the treatment community. Many recovering addicts have credited members of that community with introducing them to NA. Through a cooperative relationship, NA is able to complement the efforts of the treatment community in helping the addict recover.

Information for Professionals

Narcotics Anonymous, an international, community-based association of recovering drug addicts, provides peer support to other addicts who desire a drug-free outcome. We strive to cooperate with professionals such as therapeutic communities and other organizations with similar goals.

About Public Relations

The purpose of a Narcotics Anonymous Public Relations Committee (or subcommittee) is to inform the public that NA exists and offers recovery from the disease of addiction. This is accomplished by ensuring that information about our fellowship is accurate and is available to the public.
